While church attendance does not save you, it is vital for spiritual health and growth. The Bible consistently presents the Christian life as communal.

The Early Church Gathered

Acts 2:42-47 describes the first believers devoting themselves to the apostles' doctrine, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayers. This was the normal pattern.

Scripture Commands Gathering

Hebrews 10:24-25 instructs us not to forsake assembling ourselves together but to exhort one another. The author recognized the temptation to skip and directly countered it.

The Church Is a Body

1 Corinthians 12:12-27 compares the church to a human body. Every part is needed. When you are absent, the body is incomplete.

Why It Matters

Teaching and discipleship. Faithful biblical teaching helps you grow. Accountability. Proverbs 27:17 — iron sharpeneth iron. Encouragement. We need others to remind us of God's faithfulness. Corporate worship. Singing and praying together is a unique experience. Service opportunities. The church provides ways to use your gifts.

Trying to follow Jesus without church is like pulling a coal from the fire — eventually it goes cold. We need each other.
